Georgetown students Chloe Lazarus (COL ’16) , Caroline James (COL ’16), and Michelle Stearn (SFS ’15) were arrested at the White House as an act of civil disobedience at the March 2 XL Dissent protest against the Keystone XL Pipeline. They’re circled in this picture!
They also were pictured in this article about the protest from the Huffington Post. Also see XL Dissent coverage from campus newspaper The Hoya here.
GU Fossil Free member Patricia Cipollitti wrote an opinion piece about the protest and the pipeline for the campus weekly The Georgetown Voice.

GU Fossil Free Readies Divesment Proposal

Thank you to The Hoya for publishing an op-ed by GU Fossil Free member Caroline James!

“Dialogue would have to be more intimate if we were going to discuss the nitty-gritty of divestment. We decided that we needed a small group of students with whom we could actually sit down and have those conversations. If we could show to an exemplary sampling of students our research, factual data and expertise, and convince them that divestment is a worthy tactic, then maybe we could convince the administration that our proposal was worth serious consideration.”
