National Parks Will Close To The Public But Stay Open To Drilling

With the Shutdown of the government this past week, our national parks and monuments have been closed to visitors.  However, this means that the parks and national land is only closed to citizens, not the fossil fuel companies.  12 national parks will be open to oil and gas drilling.

In addition, the shutdown has “disrupted” the EPA’s ability to “protect the people’s health and the environment”.  However,  permitting for offshore drilling will continue during to the shutdown, according to Al Jazeera.
